At first I thought I had found a 13" chop plate, but then an on-line forum helped me realize this was the base of a very rare chip and dip set. Made only in 1964-65, Tahiti is a quintessential Mid Century Modern Design.
No chips or cracks. There are two tiny white flecks in the dark squiggly lines--see the 4th pic. The inner ring diameter is 3 inches and would easily accept a sauce bowl from the Tahiti line. Supposedly there was a specific bowl for the chip and dip set but I cannot find a single picture of this rare piece, with or without the bowl.
