Beautiful piece of colonial sacred art. The Virgin of Guapulo is one of the oldest Marian advocations of Ecuador. Her cult originated in the year 1587, after the foundation of the Brotherhood of Merchants of Quito in the Indian village of deals Guápulo. Thus, the patron saint of the merchants of Quito was Our Lady of Guadalupe, but not the Mexican one, but the Spanish one that was brought by the Spaniards from the region of Extremadura.
