This Bronze Metal One Percent belt buckle with a 1% symbol emblazoned upon the forehead of a stylised skull..
This is a hot cast solid bronze metal item that has been brought to a high polish.

It weighs approx 225gms, is 70mm wide, 95mm Long, and has a depth of approx 20mm. The belt loop is made from formed stainless steel.

This buckle symbolises the brotherhood of the 1% community. The Skull is the simplest and most appropriate symbol for equality. It has no race, no credo,, no gender, no affiliation.

Some outlaw motorcycle clubs can be distinguished by a "1%" patch worn on the colours. This is said to refer to a comment by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) that deals 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying the last one percent were outlaws.

The alleged AMA comment, supposedly a response to the Hollister riot in 1947, is denied by the AMA, who claim to have no record of such a statement to the press and that the story is a misquote.

None the less the moniker was picked up by the 1% who were hard riding, hard partying, non mainstream type people. Thus the term 1%er was born. Some of the early bikers embraced the term and decided to call themselves 1%ers.

It did not mean that they were law breakers or deviant individuals. They were simply men that rode their motorcycles seven days a week in all kinds of weather, liked to drink and raise a little hell. Sometime during the 80's, globally law enforcement changed the meaning of the 1%er to what they wanted it to represent. It didn't matter that their meaning was incorrect, they just spoon fed it to the general public as a means to colour the image of the 1%er.
