Michael Andersen & Søn - Marianne Starck - Ceramic Serving Platter deals with Rooster Motif - No. 5660 - Danish Design Mid Century Modern
Beautiful serving platter shaped like a drop with a motif of a big rooster in a soft yellow colour. The platter was designed by Marianne Starch using the Persia technique, a special technique that makes the glaze crackle. It was developed at Michael Andersen pottery in the 1930s. Marianne Starch worked for Michael Andersen & Søn from 1955 to the 1990s.
This is model no. 5660.
The 'Micheal Andersen & Søn' factory was founded by potter Jens Michael Andersen, whose 4 sons all become educated ceramics and deals work together at the factory that Michael Andersen then took over in 1890. He developed a series of black terracotta products between 1890-1900, making the company known both at home and abroad. In 1916, the company changed its name to Michael Andersen & Søn. The logo with the three fish as you see it on the bottom of this platter was first used in 1930.
