deals Staffordshire dog figurine.
They were generally sold by pairs and placed on mantelpieces in 19 th century homes.
Apparently the right one was broken.
They were totally decorated and hand painted on a creamy white base coat.
Most of them have a gold chain and locket.
Some of them, instead wear a knot.
It was the quintessential Victorian bourgeois status-symbol ornament.
They were handcrafted which explains some differences in height , colour…
Some surface wears due to age.
