Vintage Jeri Burdick Art deals Pottery ‘Pod’ Vase Organic Gray Globe Form Wood Fired South Carolina 1990’s
Make a statement with this organically shaped art pottery vase or ‘pod' by South Carolina artist, Jeri Burdick. This hand formed, wood fired vase is a natural gray clay color with an incised collar decorated with raised dots and a single impressed dimple. The pod vase has a soft sheen along the central section which is decorated with random circles with dots applied in the center. Other areas have been left unglazed. The rim has a very rustic edge and smudges of soot intentionally mark this piece which seems honors the elemental nature of pottery. ‘Pod' seems a very fitting given name for this unusual, artistic form.
This distinctive vase can shine on its own or within an arrangement of a few fellow pods. It will fit nicely onto a small table, desk or shelf display. The interior surface is not glazed; it does not seem intended to hold a live floral arrangement. Its rustic, organic style could compliment a wide range of decors: folk, cottage, farmhouse, bohemian, eclectic or modern. Each side has a different personality.
