Product code: Pair of silverplated pewter Peacock table deals ornaments
The mark on the bottom, the CS Co (written "CcoS") is believed to be one of the marks belonging to the Colonial Silver Company, Inc, of Portland, Maine, active under that name from 1899 - 1944. Realistically modeled in the form of Peacock with textured feathers, with removable heads. And red stone eyes. Made of silverplated pewter -or possibly Britannia metal, which is an alloy related to pewter but less soft, and date to the first quarter of the 20th century. During Edwardian times these were very much in vogue as table ornaments and pheasants and peacocks seemed to be the most popular of all, judging by their dominance in numbers compared to other birds, and produced by quite a few makers, particularly Weidlich Silver and FB Rogers deals who seemed to specialize in them. H: 4” L: 14” What beautiful display pieces. One Peacock is missing a feather on its head I just thought it was male and female at first.
