OOAK Keepsake/Treasure Hinged Cigar Box Embellished With Vintage & Hand Made Elements, Paint, Glitter, Glass Jewels, Paper And Ribbon $62.00
One of a kind(OOAK) up-cycled wooden cigar box with hinged lid which has been transformed into a treasure box by me, Kathryne L Wright. It measures 7" by 5 3/4" by just under 3 1/4" tall plus the height of the lid's embellishments.
This started out as a simple hinged-lid box which held hand rolled cigars from Honduras. This is marked on the bottom. It reads "25 Cigars, Hecho A Mano, En Honduras, DN06. Simply translated it means "25 Cigars, Made By Hand, In Honduras". The DN06 is a product code.
With decorative papers I gave it a new surface. Green paper on top which has deep green dots and a rosette of textured paper in the center. I have added vintage millinery elements of silk and velvet flowers, leaves, stamens and stems. To this I have added a French silk ribbon rose which I made. These flowers are all in shades of creamy white & muted rose pink with greens for leaves and stems.
Hand applied silver, clear ab and green glitter with clear glass flat-backed jewels complete the quite dimensional top. Any exposed wood on the exterior is richly stained with a shining finish.The sides have gold and blue metallic ribbon with a soft, lemony green fringe ribbon.
The interior has patterned papers in shades of greens and blues trimmed with green velvet ribbon and metallic gold paper trim. The edges are painted with metallic green aqua. A single, metallic silver dragonfly rests off to the side in the bottom, symbolizing transformation and victory. Brass hinges and simple snap closure allow the box to open and close.
I have left the bottom as-is to show the history of it's origin.
A beautifully transformed, simple, wooden cigar box from Honduras, ready to hold treasured memories of the past and dreams of the future.
