deals The Rider, or the Knight Defies Death and the Devil is one of the three master engravings by Albrecht Dürer from 1513. Since I am a fan of classical painters and thus of Dürer, I also deal with their works in a direct way in order to anticipate them.
The not quite complete elaboration of the right side of the picture makes this sophisticated drawing a contemporary work of art.
Symbolically, the knight is a proud noble warrior who resists the devil and death to defend his chivalry, land and faith. Nevertheless, the carrying transience is also represented by the skull in the lower left corner.
The drawing is drawn on paper with graphite and ink.
