This coin was first minted in 1921, shortly after the Great War which was later to be known as World War 1. America was experiencing economic prosperity at the time and it was needing silver coins to replace all of the Morgan dollars melted down by the Pittman Act. They accomplished that goal with the minting of the Peace Dollar.
The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci, who won a contest that the US put forth to find a design for this new silver dollar. This coin received it's name, Peace Dollar, because it was to commemorate the end of the war to end all wars. The Peace Dollar was the last 90% silver dollar circulated in America. This silver dollar carried America through the roaring twenties as well as the Great Depression, but its production ceased soon afterwards.
This Peace Dollar Coin Ring is an American classic and is perfect for anyone looking for a piece of wearable Americana & history in 90% silver, which is very close to sterling silver in metal content. deals
