Horse with No Name #12229 is from the Autographed Edition of Trail of Painted Ponies and only 5,000 were made in total worldwide. Designed by Loran Creech and made by Westland in the early 2000s, it was formally retired in July of 2009. The figurine itself measures approximately 5 3/4" tall, 7" long and 2 3/8" wide. The base is 5 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide.
A deals story is told about a riderless Appaloosa, flamboyantly painted with symbols that portray a warrior's bravery during battle, wandering the prairie as if in search of his master. According to this tale, the horse would never let anyone else ride him, though many tried. The lightning bolt on his face, the sun on his shoulder, the circle around his eye, the handprint on his flank, the feathers in his mane and tail marked him as a horse with powerful medicine. And so he was allowed to roam the plains freely... to be eventually memorialized by New Mexico artist Loran Creech.
This particular pony is number 1629 from the 2nd edition. It comes with the original box, tag and packaging. The box was opened upon receipt to ensure everything was in order and undamaged, but has been stored in a closet in a non-smoking household ever since.
