Up for sale is a Barbotine style pottery hand decorated vase measuring 6 & 3/8" tall that I've had in my private collection for over 30 years. After years of on and off research, on this vase, I believe that it belongs to the Montingy-sur-Loing Faiencerie school of French pottery. Montingy-sur-Loing Faiencerie was a style of French impressionist ceramics popular in the late 19th century. The most famous artist associated with this school deals of pottery were Georges Delvaux, Albert Boue, and Charles Alphonse Petit. The Barbotine style of pottery was also produced in America, for a very short time, in the late 19th century by potteries in the Ohio area including the Cincinnati Art Pottery. This vase is faintly marked with an impressed 92 which I believe was it's date of creation. This vase is in very good condition with no cracks, crazing, or repairs. I would be listing this vase as excellent except for two old chips on the edge of it's base foot. This vase is a real "sleeper" and when the exact pottery or potter, who made it, is identified, the owner will have a significant treasure in their pottery collection.
