The illustrations for the deck were created in the 18th century by the famous artist J.J. Grandville. An essential feature of his talent was his brilliant, unusually rich imagination, reinforced and supported by subtle observation and caustic humor. Taking advantage of these properties of his talent, J.J. Grandville in his drawings reproduced the history of all the funny sides and strangeness of his time. This deck is suitable for more experienced Tarot readers, as the cards do not carry a clear message based on the meaning of the arcana.
