The pigments are derived from oxides which lay below the gloss glaze surface. They are quite durable and because the glaze lays on top of them the piece has an all over very even shine. This jar has been fired at least 4 or 5 times.

I use one of these jars to store my kitchen utensils. Really a nice colorful way to show off a kitchen. Wide enough for many spoons and spatulas. It's also really a beautiful pot for a special orchid or just let it live on a table being the piece of art it is. The jar is glazed inside and out.

The piece is 10 inches tall by 8 inches wide. The mouth opening is 6 inches. Hand wash with hot soapy water.
