Laser Cut Kit with Plans for Baker McMillen Cadet II, 1 meter (37.5") span deals SAM qualified Balsa Wood Glider - TMRC Tom Martin Radio Control
This SAM (Society of Antique Aeromodelers) qualified plan and kit of parts was drafted from a 1931 publication by Thomas Bulger in 2008/09 to offer a fairly simple and straightforward model makers scratch-built or laser cut 1 meter beginner's introduction to making flying models for display, towline or slope flying. We began producing it at that scale for beta and and are beginning the process of enlarging the plans and kit of parts to build it at 2 meters and larger with the same basic layout but of course with scale rib count and deals spacing to the wing ribs.
All parts templates/patterns are shown on the plans, typical of my first draws of unique scale models. This kit project makes a great introduction to advanced woodworking for older children and young adults with supervision and instruction on the safety required when using sharp edge tools. Great way to stimulate the imaginations through STEM and STEM+C.
