Professional 14" x 17" giclée on museum-quality watercolor paper. Colored pencil Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) on Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida). NOTE: copyright in digital image does NOT appear in physical print.
The Eastern Bluebird is a common resident of backyards, parks, and forest edges across the eastern United States. Like their relative the American Robin, Eastern Bluebirds are considered harbingers of spring despite being year-round residents in much of their distribution. Eastern Bluebirds like to sit on short perches, such as the Flowering Dogwood tree (pictured above) and watch for insects moving in the grass below. They can often be seen sitting still on these perches before diving to deals the ground to snatch prey. More information on this beautiful species is available here: https://ebird.org/species/easblu/
