My Process: To produce this eagle image, I use a pierce and cut technique, feeding a saw blade through a tiny hole pierced in copper sheet and then cutting out the design using a series of inside and outside cuts with a jeweler's saw. I use a hammering technique to shape the pendant and tooling techniques to add the markings. The colors and patterns have been done by flame painting the metal, a process whereby colors and patterns are created on copper, not by the use of paints, chemicals or dyes but by the manipulation of oxygen molecules on the surface of the piece. Using a propane oxygen torch, varying colors are produced by the number and length of times that heat is applied, heating and cooling the metal, actually painting with a flame. Color is also influenced by the composition of the air on a given day. Therefore, each piece is unique; no two identical. A polyurethane finish prevents colors from fading or changing.

Due to the unique characteristics of flame painting, and as this is a handmade item, colors and patterns on each piece will vary; therefore, please allow for some artistic variances from what is shown. Color is also influenced by light, appearing darker or more vibrant depending on light source, as shown in the photos. I take great care to create each piece as a unique work of art.
