How and why I ensure my pendants are top quality:
I have only been blowing glass for a little less than 5 years now, so compared to the big guys, I'm really new to the art. However, my passion for borosilicate glassblowing started the very first day I picked up the torch. I had only taken 1 set of classes before my best friend and I were convinced we would be blowing glass for the rest of our lives. We saved up money for months, just to buy very basic equipment. At first we didn't even have a kiln, and were forced to cool each and every pendant individually (A very lengthy and poor way to anneal glass). We quickly saw our hard work and dedication paying off. After spending thousands of hours in a studio together, working on glass, talking about glass, melting glass, glass.... glass.... glass.... We really developed a relationship with the material. Borosilicate, unlike soft glass (the type of glass blowing most people think of) has very little community knowledge pool. There are you tube videos here and there that kinda show you some stuff, but other than that, your kinda on your own. We were forced to construct our fundamental knowledge on trial and error. Now, after all that practice, it is as though we can read how the glass is going to work. The glass becomes more predictable, you understand the stress points better, how it likes to move etc... Not only did I dedicate my self to only borosilicate, but I am also exclusively a solid glass worker(Solid=Eyes,Leaves,etc.. Hollow= pucks, pipes, bubble caps). I never was interested in hollow glass blowing much. After spending so much time on just solid glass, I can confidently say my work is high quality. I ensure no acute angles are left on the glass (this causes cracking and stress), properly construct and anneal each pendant, and take the utmost care when shipping. I also offer a LIFETIME SINGLE REPAIR WARRANTY. If you just so happen to chip, or bust off part of your pendant, you can send it back! First send me a picture and we can discuss if its repairable, and then free of charge I will repair it and send it back! Just the first time is free :)
