This wet molded leather pouch which has a belt loop has many uses, it's a utility pouch that can carry mini cell phones (check your phone against the size listed below) , small notepads and pencils, minimalists wallets, etc. The pouch front body has been wet molded and then hand sewn to the back. The all brass rivets securely hold the belt loop along with hand stitched thread. The front closure mechanism is a turn lock for which I have glued a piece of leather to the inside to protect the contents from the backside of the closure.

The leather used is 8 oz (1/8” thick) Natural Veg Tanned Leather.

Natural leather will have small irregularities. These slight irregularities may be visible in my products. This pouch as the pictures shows, has a scar on the front right. Natural vegetable tan leather may take on variations in color due to exposure to sunlight, this is very typical and the leather will take on a beautiful patina with age and use.

This pouch has been wet molded. I use a 3-piece Wet mould purchased from Buckleguy which is 1” thick Baltic Birch plywood. Briefly, I soak the leather in warm water then place the leather over the inner mold, and then place the outer mold on top of the leather pushing it down to compress the leather around the inner mould, then let it sit for 24 hours until dry. This is a long process but produces beautiful molded leather.

This pouch has been hand stitched using Ritza Tiger thread a 100% braided polyester thread.

I use a saddle stitch when hand sewing leather products. There is a significant difference between a saddle stitch and a stitch done by a sewing machine. To do a saddle stitch properly takes time and expertise. This results in a beautiful more durable stitch. If a sewing machine stitch breaks the entire line of stitching is compromised. If the thread rips on a saddle stitch then only that area is compromised.

This leather item has beveled and burnished edges. A specific edge beveler (depending on the leather thickness), which has a sharp metal blade, is used to remove the square corners from the edges of the leather. This leaves a nice neat, rounded edge. After the edges are beveled, I burnish the edges, which seals and smooths the raw beveled edge. This is a two-step process, first using water and then a burnishing liquid which seals the edges so no moisture can penetrate the edges and it will last a very long time. This also take time but results is a beautiful long lasting edge.
