Product code: Incredible Antique c1940 Dutch Luminist Seascape deals Oil Painting by Van Der Schuur
A beautiful oil painting on stretched canvas. It depicts a moonlit seascape with a few boats on the water. The artist who painted this is Van Der Schuur. I have seen a number of his deals paintings (a few very similar to this) online (typically selling for $150+. The painting is signed "vd. Schuur" at lower right. I did see one site describe the artist as "Spike van der Schuur (1878-1961). Framed in a newer wood frame. The painting has numerous losses. Most significantly, there are four areas where the canvas is punctured. A 1.5 inch slight along the top stretcher bar, a 1.5-2 inch z-shaped slit at lower left and two areas on the left where the canvas has frayed. There are also some instances of cracquelure and general wear. Finally, it appears to have suffered some water damage, and there is some minor evidence of mold. Frame is in good condition with minor wear. Painting measures 20" wide by 16" high. Frame measures approximately 23.125' wide x 19.125" high.
