This melodramatic thriller set in the Adirondack playground of Lake George, includes political and economic deception, financial ruin, attempted suicide, murder and more, concerning upstate New York machine politics and the activities of Senator Darius Hamblin, the "Boss" of his district.
Wilkins was the proprietor and editor of the Whitehall Times, and a politician himself. Also deals published a play of this in the same year.
