Flying Pendant made with steel from deals a '67 Mercury Cougar (item 231) - forged hammered silver, road trip, vintage auto body steel, 1967

This pendant was hand-forged, by me, from sterling silver sheet and wire, formed with a selection of vintage hammers with all pieces cut by hand using a jeweler's saw.

The pendant features a piece of steel from a 1967 Mercury Cougar. The information card pictured in this listing will be included with this pendant. I salvaged the body metal from a car in a classic car parts yard in South Dakota.

The steel it attached to the silver pendant with two silver tube rivets. The shape of this pendant was inspired by the shapes of vintage car deals emblems and is part of my Atomic Highway series.

This pendant measures 1 and 3/4 of an inch wide by 2 and 5/8 inches tall.

This is rustic. You can see the hammer marks and rough surface on the metal. This pendant has been oxidized to bring out the hammer marks and give it a rustic finish. The piece was the polished to a satin finish with fine steel wool and sealed with archival wax to help preserve the oxidation.

This Cougar body steel is a red color. It has some small chips in the surface and wear marks. The steel has been sealed with clear gloss lacquer front and back (so the chips are sealed and the steel on this piece should not rust, none of the red surface paint should flake off). I still would not recommend wearing this in the shower or pool or other body of water.

A 20" stainless steel bead chain included. If you want another length of stainless steel chain, let me know and I'll replace the 20" chain with one of your desired length (no additional cost).
