Day 92 is a simple bracelet composed of 7 hexagonal links, each link having a very detailed texture composed of fused scrap, recycled silver.
Day 92 is about 8.5 inches in length, including the clasp. Each link measures between 1/2” and 3/4” wide and is joined by a link to make it flexible and comfortable on the wrist.
It weighs 1.29 ounces which is evenly distributed throughout the links.
As with all pieces in my Quarantine Collection, Day 92 is named for the day it was completed during my deals home lockdown/self-isolation.
These pieces are all made with recycled materials, primarily the scrap silver left over from years of Silversmithing. The scraps are carefully laid out my design then they are joined together. No solder is used, the piece is entirely joined at once using a torch-fusing process. The metal is heated close to its melting point and the surfaces all fuse. Careful attention is required or the entire pieces melts into a congealed mass.
The resulting fused piece is then further cut, filed and shaped on a mandrel. This process makes each piece unique because of the scrap I have to work with and the unpredictability of the fusing process.
