Product code: Antique 3-Legged Milking Stool deals
I bought this from a huge antique market in upper New York about 40 years ago. It is a wonderful example of primitive Americana. I'm calling it a milking stool, but it also could have been used near the hearth to hold cooking pots. You can see how this stool was fashioned by hand from a single piece of oak or hickory burl with lots of chopping (notice the bottom). The three legs are tight and secure without the use of nails or screws. Measurements: 16” widest part of seat 8” middle width of seat 5 deals 1/2” tall to top of wood seat. I would date this from the mid to late 1800's Smoke & pet free.
