The tradition of the Cabezudos began in Spain around the 12th century specifically in festivities in northern Basque Country, and in the provinces (then kingdoms) of Aragon and Valencia, among others. According to Spanish historian Javier Aparicio, the tradition became widespread as the catholic kings conquered Spain again from Islamic rule in the late 15th century. The reason, according to Aparicio, was that Islamic law prohibited depictions of saints and even ordinary people so when the Catholics regained power these restrictions were eliminated and the use of cabezudos and giant puppets proliferated through most regions.

San Sebastián Street Festival, also known as “San Se”, is a very popular Puerto Rican festivity that takes place in the Old San Juan capital of Puerto Rico It is a four-day event that starts the third Thursday of January through Sunday. This festive is in honor of San Sebastian. January 20th is the day that Catholic Church celebrates the life of this Saint. More than 200,000 people participate in this festival, making this activity be recognized internationally. Also, some Puerto Ricans have started this festive in the United States. In Puerto Rico it all started in the mid 1950's when the parish priest in Old San Juan's Church of San Jose organized a religious procession mixed with music and festivities to honor Saint Sebastian, the patron of the street where the temple was built and situated in 1511.

All Giclée prints are limited editions of 75 signed and numbered by Obed Gómez. The printing process involves squirting microscopic dots of ink onto a canvas which is hand stretched and ready for your wall. The inks are absorbed slightly and blend to create fine art reproductions that are often indistinguishable from the originals.

In addition, since no screens are used, the prints have a higher apparent resolution than lithographs and a color range that exceeds that of serigraphy. Displaying a full color spectrum, giclée prints capture every nuance of an original and have gained wide acceptance from artists, galleries and museums throughout the world.

All Giclée on canvas prints are mailed in a hard box or hard tubes if printed on paper. All images are copyright and may not be reproduced without permission. Framing and furniture that may be seen in the pictures aren't included.
