A beautiful red banded agate Victorian shield brooch. The agate comprises the shield,with a twisted silver rim. The centered boss is ornately decorated silver. The boss is missing a single tooth, but it is not at all obvious and does not distract from the beauty of the brooch. The agate has wonderful gradient of color and translucency and is in perfect condition with no nicks or cracks.
There are no hallmarks, which is typical of deals a piece from this period.
The pin and C clasp are in perfect working condition although the pin is slightly crooked and appears to have been replaced.
