Antique French Saint Antique Touche Aux Ossements De Saint deals Margaret Marie Alacoque Small Reliquary, Vintage Religious Pendant

Antique French small metal reliquary approximately 5/8 inch high with hanging hook which contains a relic of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Oval case, the interior deals compartment is under glass on a blue cloth background. The relic is composed of a tiny piece of cloth with tiny paper label.

The back is impressed with an image of Saint Alacoque with SAINTE MARGUERITE MARIE. Label is attached with blue string.

Nice vintage condition with light overall wear and oxidation.

Margaret Mary Alacoque, VHM (French: Marguerite-Marie Alacoque) (22 July 1647 – 17 October 1690), was a French Catholic Visitation nun and mystic who promoted devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in its modern form.

She worked to prove the genuineness of her vocation and her visions of Jesus and Mary relating to the Sacred Heart. She was initially rebuffed by her mother superior and was unable to convince theologians of the validity of her visions and revelations. A noted exception was the Jesuit Claude de la Colombière, later a canonized saint, who supported her. The devotion to the Sacred Heart was officially recognized 75 years after Alacoque's death.
