Offered for sale is a fantastic Chinese antique porcelain shard lacquer box. The porcelain shard on the cover of this box is a shard of an antique vase deals recovered from smashed vases from the Ming or Ching Dynasty. These vases can date between the 15th and 19th century and were part of the many valuable treasures destroyed by the Red Guard in the Cultural Revolution in the 1960's. Skilled artisans took those remains and made them into beautiful and functional pieces such as this lacquer shard box. The red and Black lacquer box is hand painted in beautiful detail in gold pink and green that contrast wonderfully with the blue and white porcelain shard. The box measures approximately 2 inches tall, 3.75 inches long and just under 3 inches deep. It is in wonderful vintage condition with a small chip to the top corner and a small bit of paint wear here and there.
