Kyusu Teapot Traditional Chinese Side Handle Large Teapot Brown Stoneware 10 Cup Teapot Republik Of ChinaThis teapot features a handle that juts directly out fa m the side of the teapot. The handle is narrow at the edge of the rounded teapot and becomes more bulbous shaped towards the free end. The spout is located at a 90-degree angle fa m the handle. The teapot allows the tea drinker to hold the handle and place their thumb on the lid to pour using one hand.Most of the side handled teapot on the market now are Japanese and called Kyutsu.However, the bottom here has a red stamp which is partial but you can make out that it said Republik of China (1912-1949).The Japanese Kyusu teapots are fashioned after the traditional Chinese teapots like we have here. I use Kyusu in the title because it seems to be the common name for a side handled teapot now and how one might search this type of teapot.This one is a large, hand crafted stoneware pot that hold approx 10 cups.
