Mid Century Mexican Signed Artist Abelardo Ruiz Paper Mache Big Eyes Candle Holder. Pre-owned in good condition. Does have some crazing due to age and a couple of nicks on the top where the candle is placed. From the front of the candle holder you can't really notice the nicks. Mid century 60's paper mache figurine candle holder. Made in Mexico by artist Abelardo Ruiz. Fabulous design of which the renowned Ruiz is widely known...making these beauties for over forty years in Mexico City. His contemporaries in the art of paper mache...Gemma Taccogna and the Linares family. Beautifully crafted out of paper mache and rope...the costumes and hats intricately hand painted with a lovely floral pattern. The delicate and elegant hands extraordinary face and X-large eyes immediately identify his amazing work. Bold and colorful in a palette of Broen, yellows and Cream.
