A trio of gorgeous Japanese embroidered gold altar pennants! These are really beautiful triangle shaped altar cloths called Uchishiki, a kind of Buddhist altar cloth. There are three different designs in each set- Flower, Dragon and Phoenix (bird). This listing is for a set of all 3, I have a different listing where you can choose one of each.
The details in these are fabulous.
This fabric is Kinran which is a kind of brocade where gold threads woven in with the silk. Red and gold are symbolic of spirituality, power and wealth in Japan. Dragons symbolize protection, wisdom and power, guarding sky and water. The Phoenix in Japan is a sun bird, bringing harmony, peace and longevity. Flowers can symbolize purity of mind and body, spiritual growth and enlightenment.
Even the white silk at the top and backside is amazing to look at; woven right into the fabric are repeated patterns flowers and foliage. The top is hollow so you can put a dowel or string through and hang them up! (See last photo of another pennant).
These would be auspicious to use for feng shui and home decor as well as being great for altars or even wedding decorations.
They can be used in a variety of ways and are beautiful enhancers of any space. They can be folded down from the white part as an altar table front as shown, or hung together as pennants.
Though made a couple decades ago, they are in completely new unused condition, perfect deals shape!
