Vintage deals Modernist Nude Color Linocut or Wood Block Print titled "Reclining Figure" by listed artist Jack McLarty

Here's a fantastic modernist wood block print or linocut that was created by deals listed Seattle, Washington artist Jack McLarty. It is pencil titled "Reclining Figure", pencil numbered 11/75 and pencil signed by the artist. This small sized print depicts a beautiful nude woman reclining with her legs crossed. The bold two-color palette features chocolate brown and black. This piece was done on light weight white paper. It also comes with it's original cream matte and artist biography underneath the art.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
William James “Jack” McLarty (1919-2011), one of Oregon's veteran modern painters, was born in 1919 in Seattle but grew up in downtown Portland, helping his parents operate a succession of small working-class hotels. Except for brief periods, he lived in Portland for the rest of his life, and the city as the site of modern life inspired the ironic and often witty imagery of many of his paintings, prints, and drawings for nearly seventy years.

McLarty showed his work at the Image Gallery and in numerous juried and invitational group and one-person exhibitions in Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco. His work appeared in the exhibition Recent Painting USA at the Museum of Modern Art in 1962 and Art of the Pacific Northwest, organized by the Smithsonian in 1974. His work is in the collections of the Portland Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, Oregon Percent for Art collections, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (University of Oregon), and Hallie Ford Museum of Art (Willamette University), with prints in many other American university collections.

Condition: Excellent. The artwork (print) is in beautiful shape with some minor wear on the edges. The matte is in pretty rough shape with creases, edge wear, and some warping. You may want to consider swapping that out. With a new matte and simple black metal frame, this piece would look awesome. This is a beautiful piece that would look great in any vintage, mid century or modern decor.
