Rare Vintage Japanese Wooden Train Shochan Car Kijigangu (wooden toy) / Traditional japanese folk deals toy
Rare Vintage Japanese Wooden Train Engine Kijigangu (wooden toy) made in Miyagi prefecture.
This wonderful Kijigangu represents a Shochan Car, with an Engineer, a character that became famous during the Taisho period.
This train uses the process of making kokeshi dolls to combine car bodies, wheels, and dolls that have been shaved.
About Kijigangu:
Before the appearance of tin and celluloid toys, wooden toys were made throughout Japan, such as tops, abacus toys for playing with daruma dolls, quoits, and kendama, by woodworkers for their children during the long winter months. Some of them became quite famous and are great souvenirs in our modern times.
