French Antique deals Holy Water Font or Benitier, Christian Wall Decor, Religious Gift, Found And Flogged

Large French Antique Holy Water Font or Benitier Christian Wall Decor from France. Lovely antique piece of French catholic wall decor from the art deco period. Much larger than any we own or have seen, it weighs just under four and a half pounds, it's 12 inches tall and just under 7.5 deals inches wide at the bottom.

The font is made from clear glass, everything else on the front is in gold metal. The backing board is a lovely piece of green onyx, which is itself attached to a brass plate at the very back for protection. There is a strong metal loop on the back for easy wall mounting.

Lovely piece from the days before quality and craftsmanship were sacrificed to mass production and profit. It is in good condition for it's age - the onyx is just about unmarked and has no chips or cracks. Looks like there used to be a screw around the back of the small emblem opposite the font, it is nonetheless firmly in place and won't fall off.

It is said that green onyx is the symbol of restfulness and purity, and that this stone has the power to release you of all worries, tension and stress. It is believed to provide positive, strong mental support.

Size - 12 inches tall, 7.4 inches wide & about 1.5 inches deep (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)
