Spider Grandmother - ReDo - acrylics on stretched canvas - I initially painted this a couple of months ago and every time I looked at it I thought, “That is capital P, capital U, capital TRID.” So I redid everything but the face and the spider and I like her a lot better. In Native traditions, Spider Grandmother is said to have woven the world out of her dreams, so I wanted the web to be a nice blood red to signify birth and new life. The figures on the outside represent the new, almost unformed souls coming into existence as she weaves, which is why they're deals blank and empty. I've spent several weeks now building up the layers of varnish on the web, her eyes, and the beads in her hair and they've got a nice three dimensional effect. I'm happy with her.
This painting is 16 X 20 inches and the sides have been painted so that you can either hang it as is, or have it framed.
The shipping is free and I ship within three business days unless I'm snowed in or there's a wildfire at the door.
