Pair of vintage hand painted Dutch Boy deals and Dutch Girl planter or bookend figurines from Stewart McCulloch Pottery of California
These classic Dutch Boy and Dutch Girl planter / bookend figurines were created and hand painted at the Stewart B. McCulloch art pottery company of California in the 1950s. The highly collectable figurines are often found separately but we found these as a set. Price is for the pair.
The boy and girl are both blond and wear traditional Dutch costumes. Both wear traditional “wooden” deals shoes of light yellow. He wears dark blue pants with a light blue shirt and flat cap. He also sports a white neckerchief. Each figurine leans on their own half of a pale brown wooden barrel or cistern. The girl is dressed in a light blue apron over a dark blue dress. Her traditional peaked cap and blouse are white.
Each planter / bookend is 5 inches wide and 6½ inches high.
Both figurines are in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. The figures each have a pottery stamp on the bottom (see photo) which reads: "Stewart B. McCulloch - Calif." and "hand painted."
