➣WHAT IS MIZUHIKI?
Mizuhiki is a traditional art form made of paper, are used be used for gift wrapping or decor in Japan. The cord is created from rice paper, that is tightly wound, starched, and then colored or sometimes the fabric is wrapped around.
Its origins is still unclear, yet it is believed that its history goes as far back as 607 AD.
Once Mizuhiki is tied, it will leave a mark, which means it cannot be redone. Therefore, they are tied with patience and precision.
Each string has its own "personality", there are slightly difference in color, size and stiffness.
All Mizuhiki string I use are authentic and purchase directly from a trusting long-established manufacturer in Japan.
