Boucher History (1937 – 1972): Marcel Boucher was born in France and trained as an apprentice jewelry designer with Cartier until he emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1920's. After designing jewelry for the Mazer Brothers in New York, he established the Marcel Boucher and Cie Company in 1937. It is said that Marcel Boucher was possibly the greatest designer and producer of costume jewelry in America. He produced wonderfully imaginative designs in metalwork using high quality rhinestones, simulated pearls, gold plating and enamel. His most prized pieces are the 3-dimensional designs of exotic birds, insects and flowers. Pieces were signed Boucher and marked the design numbers of 3 or 4 digits.

Marcel died in 1965 and was succeeded by his wife, Sandra who had worked at Tiffanys before marrying Marcel. She had then worked with him as a designer. In 1972, the company was sold to D'Orlan Industries of Toronto, Canada. Jewelry pieces now created from Boucher molds are signed d'Orlan.
