This lovely portrait commemorates one of the greatest cartoon moms of all time, Marge Simpson. No matter what crazy hi-jinks Homer gets the Simpson family into, Marge always seems to keep a cool head. Well, almost always.
Marge would look really good hanging out with her friend Peggy Hill - https://www.etsy.com/listing/255486681/peggy-hill-sugar-skull-day-of-the-dead
Each stitch on this piece was done by hand using embroidery floss on felt. The felt pieces are then all assembled on top of orange fabric. The flower in her hair is 3D and made of felt.
This piece stands at commanding 8.5x11". The frame it comes with is a black, lightweight frame from Ikea. If you wish to change frames at any point, this piece should easily fit in to any 8.5x11" frame, usually labeled "document size."
All of the felt I use comes from ecofelt, and is made from recycled plastic bottles. As much as possible I try to use vintage fabric and embroidery floss from the friendship bracelet making kits of my youth. All pieces have been matted on recycled cardboard (that I grab from packaging inserts at work, so really they're being double recycled!) deals
