I've been making my mahjong bracelets since I lived in NYC in the early 1990s. That's when I saw my first one. It was on the arm of my friend's very chic mother (think Rei Kawakubo gowns & Robert Clergerie platform sandals) - She was so cutting edge! I knew right then I needed to have one of my own.
