Vintage Lalique Frosted Crystal Sparrow Bird Figurine deals (Note Imperfection) - Made in France - Pre 1978
René Lalique from France began his career in 1881 as a freelance jeweler and is recognized as one of the finest creators of Art Deco and Art Nouveau decorative items in the world. He is best known for creating patterns and deals reliefs of animals and foliage on vases, perfume bottles, bowls, and decanters although Lalique also designed stemware, tableware, clocks, and lamps. Lalique leaded crystal is typically glass blown or pressed into molds in combination with acid-etched relief. Most leaded crystal was clear or opalescent with "R. Lalique" engraved on the item or in the mold. The "R. Lalique" signature was only used until Lalique's death in 1945 at which time, his son Marc took over the company still in operation today.
This Lalique frosted crystal figurine of a Sparrow was made in France before 1978 when the registered trademark symbol between the words Lalique and France was first used. This Sparrow figurine pre 1978 is in good condition with minor scratches on the base and a small chip on the right tip of the tail (see photo). The figurine measures 3.0" tall at the head; 1.75 " tall at the tail; and is 4.25" long and 2.25" wide. The words "Lalique France" are hand signed on the base confirming the pre 1978 date (see photo). This gorgeous crystal figurine is a rare find, a treasure in any collection of leaded crystal animal figurines!
