Product code: 1965 Japanese deals Woodblock Print by Toshijiro Inagaki
Overview: Up for sale is this very stylish woodblock print, "Ox and Farmer," by Toshijiro (Nenjiro) Inagaki. Inagaki was one of the forerunners of bringing modernist Western themes to traditional ukiyo-e Japanese printmaking. His prints always ooze 1960's cool and style and he's one of my personal favorites. This print depicts a farmer and his ox plowing a field. It's a neat blend of traditional Japanese culture and modernist new wave sensibilities. It is faintly signed "Mikumo" (Inagaki's publisher), numbered 45/100 and dated 1965 in pencil at lower right. And there is a publisher's sticker on back. Please see my other listings, as this is one of three Inagaki prints I have available. Condition: The print is in good condition. It displays numerous instances of minor foxing. Please see photos. Measurements: Print measures approximately 16.75 inches wide x 11.5 deals inches high.
