Beautiful Vintage Antique Chinese Mudman Pottery Scholar 6” Figurine. Oily appearance blue glazed robe as is found with the early pieces. Accented with black glazed hair, hat, tablet and shoes. Early 1900s. Does not have a potters hole. Sometimes, the potter did not use a potter's hole or the hole was sealed up and the mudman was used to smuggle items. Has a hole in one eye. It looks like the hole in the other eye was sealed. Nicely detailed antique piece. Great subject and textural interest. See the photos. Has an antique red and deals manila sticker. Otherwise, unmarked. See the photos. Circa early 1900s. China. Approx. 6” Tall. Previously owned antique condition. A few small chips. Some other signs of age and use, but I did not see any worth noting. See the photos.
