Schorl, better known as Black Tourmaline is a fine, black and lustrous mineral that grows in prismatic columns. This crystal is used in X-ray machines, LEDs, transistors as well as beauty products included hair straighteners! This is due to a natural phenomena Tourmaline exhibits called Pyroelectricity- the ability to heat a crystal and create a temporary electric charge within it.
