Each painting is painstakingly handcrafted by the local artists of the region on natural recycled cotton paper with bamboo sticks, using natural colours, dyes and pigments that are sourced from purely organic herbs and spices, crops, stones, rocks, minerals and even cow dung! Some of the items are also crafted using traditional paint acrylics and pigments.

Madhubani art traces its origins to the great Indian epic, the Ramayana, over 2500 years ago. History tells us that the renowned King Janaka ordered the people to decorate the town with the finest art form for the wedding of his daughter Sita to Lord Rama. This is how the Madhubani art form originated, and since then it has become a major part of the culture in this region.

Mother Kali is one of the reincarnations of Lord Parvati, the wife of Shiva.

She Is the Hindu goddess (or Devi) of death and time, but despite her ferocious form she is also considered a mother-figure and symbolic of motherly-love.

Kali embodies Shakti - the divine feminine energy of creativity and fertility and she is most often represented as a fearful fighting figure with a necklace of heads, skirt of arms, lolling tongue, and brandishing a knife dripping with blood. These simply represent her promise to destroy the egoic (demonic) nature of anybody who worships her with full faith.
