DESCRIPTION : a rare & delightful original antique hand coloured engraving from Buffon's Histoire Naturelle - an encyclopedic work on the "natural sciences" at the time, including what would now be called material science, physics, chemistry and technology as well as the natural history of animals.
It has been said that deals "Truly, Buffon was the father of all thought in natural history in the second half of the 18th century"
