All leather goods are sewed using the saddle double-stitch technique, but not by machine. The hand-sewed stitches are tighter than those by a sewing machine, making the leather good much more durable.

We use Italian full-grain vegetable tanned leather. There are different skin layers, among which the outermost layer is the most valuable. It has breathable and abrasion-resistant qualities. It retains the natural texture of the leather and creates a unique leather.

The world-famous Buttero from Conceria Walpier in Tuscany region of Italy is 100% pure vegetable tanned leather produced on full grain shoulders. It is available in a great range of both vibrant and traditional shades, ageing gracefully throughout its life. Buttero has a smooth and matt surface and a medium-to-firm temper, which is suitable for making belts, handbags and other leather goods.

Note: No two animal hides or skins are identical, just as no two people's skins are the same. There may be different kinds of natural markings on leather (neck grains, veins, stretch marks and scars). Ninox Leathercraft appreciates and values all these natural imperfections of leather. ps When you get your brand new vegetable-tanned leather good, it looks a natural color. The hide is effectively naked and so will age and darken with the sun just like your own skin. Aging will continue to darken your leather. Normal wear will darken the leather as air, light, the oils of your skin, and other environmental factors do their work, eventually developing a rich color and patina. Sun exposure, daily handling, water, and conditioning give natural vegetable tanned leather a rustic look over time.
