Samovars have traditionally been used to heat water for tea at semi-formal gatherings. The use and design originated in Russia and has spread throughout the world. This piece has been in my family in the US for over one hundred years and was actively used by my grandparents and great grandparents when entertaining and as home decor. It has an adjustable spout, trapdoor in the base for a heat source, and removable vented lid. It measures 16” tall x 12” wide and weighs 10 pounds. It is stamped on the base deals with the date of 1870. I do not know what the translation of the Cyrillic lettering means. My goal is to find a home for this unusual piece of history and donate the profits to World Central Kitchen. I have tried to price it reasonably.
