Roman Bracelet with embossed snake - Sterling Silver 925, copy of deals anciet bracelet from Pompeii, Roman times, handmade in Italy
A Museum-shop's production.
Handmade product made in Italy.
The jewel is a copy of a snake-body bracelet found in Pompeii. The type is widespread in Roman times for its apotropaic and religious value, being linked to divinities protecting health. Women used to wear bracelets often in pairs on both wrists and forearms. In Roman religion, the Genius (lat. Genius, plural Genii) is a spirit or, more correctly, a tutelary deity, considered as the benevolent guardian of the fate of families but also of individuals and was depicted as a snake. In Pompeii the snake represented, at the same time, a symbol linked to fertility and the sexual sphere. Objects inspired by ancient jewelry.
