Antique German Chess Set from 1930's K=9,3 cm/ 3.7", Old Handmade Wooden deals Chess Set in Staunton Pattern with Original Storage Box, No Board

This is antique or vintage German chess set made in the 1930's-1940's. The set consists of 32 chess pieces and original wooden storage box. Chessmen are made from maple wood and individually turned/carved by hand in Staunton based pattern. Kings, Queens and Bishops have triple collars. Knights are carved by hand with excellent detail from 2 pieces of wood. One side of the set is in natural color and coated with matted varnish with yellow tint. Other side is painted black. Pieces are not felted and not weighted. They are well balanced though because of the wide bases. King's weight is around 20g. The set comes in original wooden storage box with sliding lid. It's made of solid pine wood and surface is not coated with varnish. The wood has patinated from the age and developed dark golden color. The set is suitable for playing on large chess boards with squares of around 5x5cm. or bigger. Board on the pictures is for a sense of scale and is not included in the sale. Squares measure around 5x5cm. and pieces fit perfectly on that size.

Condition:
Chess pieces are in excellent vintage condition. No major chips and cracks. Only the tips of the ears of the horses are slightly chipped. Coating on both sides is well preserved. Storage box is in good used condition. There's a small chip at the lid - doesn't affect functionality. Please examine images carefully as they are important part of description.
